       Halotherapy (dry salt therapy)

Help improve your sleep, respiratory health, hygiene, recovery and dry skin conditions naturally in our salt room.

Halotherapy is also known as dry salt therapy. Dry pure grade sodium chloride is ground into very tiny micro-particles in a special machine called a Halogenerator. These dry salt micro-particles are then dispersed into the salt room.

As you relax in the dry salt room, particles are inhaled as well as land on the skin. The particles penetrate deep into the lungs, bronchi, bronchioles, and alveoli, as well as into the deeper layers of the skin.

It is a holistic, drug free, natural therapy and promote better breathing, healthier skin, sounder sleep, improved physical fitness and overall wellness.

Dry salt therapy is not an alternative therapy, but a complementary one. It can assist in relieving the symptoms of a condition and work in conjunction with existing medication, which results in even greater relief!

Benefits of Halotherapy

Halotherapy has been known to improve many conditions and symptoms including:

Asthma

Asthma is a condition where the airways become inflamed, swelling causing constriction and producing extra mucus. This can cause difficulty breathing and trigger coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath. The airways can be severely restricted, meaning not enough oxygen can reach the lungs.
Halotherapy helps reduce inflammation of the respiratory tract, thins mucous and ultimately helping to expel it.
The fine microparticles of salt also help to gently clean the airways and lungs of mucus, allergens, pollutants and other impurities. In this way, halotherapy eases the congestion of airways, helping to improve breathing and relieve asthmatic symptoms.

Post Covid Recovery

Whilst Covid is a relatively new condition many people are suffering afterwards from a range of symptoms including: ongoing coughs, headaches, tight chests, breathlessness, weakness and fatigue.

Recent studies carried out show Halotherapy treatments help to recover from damaged lungs and other problems encountered from COVID-19 such as fatigue and weakness. Halotherapy also helps in promoting overall wellbeing and reduces emotional and physical stress post COVID-19.

Dry salt is also very absorbent and functions like a sponge, attracting foreign substances along its path through the respiratory tract. A clean respiratory system naturally results in higher oxygen intake, increased energy, and an improved immune system.

COPD

COPD is the name for a group of lung conditions that cause breathing difficulties. It includes: emphysema – damage to the air sacs in the lungs; chronic bronchitis – long-term inflammation of the airways. Often causes a persistent chesty cough, phlegm, wheezing and frequent troublesome chest infections.
Halotherapy helps to reduce the inflammation, kills bacteria and helps to expel mucous.

Eczema, Psoriasis & Acne

Skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis not only affect the way our skin looks but can affect the way we feel about ourselves. Dermatitis (also known as eczema) is a condition that results in inflammation of the skin due to external irritants. It is characterized by itchiness, red skin, and a rash. Psoriasis is a condition in which skin cells build up and form scaly, dry patches.
Halotherapy helps to reduce inflammation, kills any bacteria, reduces the redness and brings moisture to the dry skin.

Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited disorder that causes severe damage to the lungs, digestive system and other organs in the body. It affects the cells that produce mucus, sweat and digestive juices. These secreted fluids are normally thin and slippery but in people with Cystic Fibrosis, a defective gene causes the secretion to become sticky and thick.
Halotherapy can help reduce inflammation of the airways and thin the mucous enabling it to be expelled.  Being anti-bacterial it also helps tackle and prevent infection.

Stress & Anxiety

Anxiety is a general term for several disorders that cause fear, nervousness, worrying, and apprehension. These disorders affect how we behave and feel. Most people will experience some form of anxiety in their lives. Anxiety can range from being mild to severe. Severe anxiety can seriously impair the quality of life of the person who suffers from it and affects their day-to-day living.

Halotherapy can help manage stress by placing you in a calming and relaxing state. People who have enjoyed salt therapy sessions have compared it to being at the spa. Benefits include improved mood, increased mental performance, improved sleep and generally feeling less stressed or anxious.

Allergies

Known medically as allergic rhinitis, seasonal allergies include symptoms such as sneezing, stuffy or runny nose due to blockage or congestion, puffy and swollen eyes, itchy and watery eyes, itchy mouth or throat and coughing. Allergies occur when your immune system reacts to a foreign substance such as pollen, air borne particles, pet dander or a certain food.
Halotherapy can help alleviate allergies because salt is a well-known decongestant. As a result of its cleansing activity, inflammation of the airway passages is reduced, restoring the normal flow of air and mucus. In turn, the respiratory system is better equipped to eliminate foreign allergens or residues at a faster rate.

Cold / Flu prevention

Major symptoms include a cough, sore throat, and runny or stuffy nose. Common colds also afflict many with symptoms like congestion, sneezing, and chest discomfort.

While you’re still healthy, or if you’re starting to just notice the beginning stages of a cold, you can enjoy salt therapy as a way to kill bacteria in the airways, relieve congestion and inflammation.

Halotherapy can provide relief by opening your nasal airways, killing bacteria, and draining your sinuses. Salt therapy can improve the overall effectiveness of your immune system by helping the body fight bacteria and infection.

Sinusitis & Sinus Infections

Acute sinusitis causes the cavities around the nasal passages (sinuses) to become inflamed and swollen. This can make it difficult to breathe through your nose and can cause pain around the face and neck including headaches and sometimes dizziness. Halotherapy has natural anti-histamine and anti-inflammatory properties that reduce symptoms and relieve inflammation and congestion in the sinus area.

Ear Infections

An ear infection is a bacterial or viral infection that affects the middle ear. These are often painful due to inflammation and build-up of fluids in the middle ear.
Halotherapy can significantly relieve the pain and swelling that accompanies the ear infection by penetrating the ear canal with salt particles. Salt is an anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory agent. This means the swelling of the tubes in your ear will be reduced, allowing the fluid to drain.

Bronchitis

Bronchitis is an infection of the main airways of the lungs (bronchi), causing them to become irritated and inflamed. The main airways branch off on either side of your windpipe (trachea). They lead to smaller and smaller airways inside your lungs called bronchioles.
Halotherapy is both anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory. As you breathe, the micron-sized dry salt particles begin to absorb the toxins and allergens in your respiratory tract, and eliminate them from the body, resulting in a decrease in mucus, a decrease in inflammation, a detox of your entire respiratory system, and a welcomed relief during breathing.

Sleep & Snoring

Snoring occurs when a person makes a snorting or rattling noise when they breathe during sleep.

Snoring is the hoarse or harsh sound that occurs when air flows past relaxed tissues in your throat, causing the tissues to vibrate as you breathe.

Halotherapy helps to address a variety of problems that cause sleeping issues.  Snoring and sleep apnea are generally caused by obstructed air passages, which with the use of Halotherapy are relieved due to the antiedemic and anti-inflammatory properties of salt particles. Air passages are opened and widened and the spasm of inflamed irritated tissue and smooth muscles are regulated, so restful breathing can be achieved.
